Position Overview
Lapistone Trust LLC seeks a part-time Compliance Officer to oversee and enhance its compliance framework. This position will require approximately 20% of a full-time commitment (about one day per week or equivalent hours) and will report directly to the CEO and Board of Directors.
The Compliance Officer will maintain the company’s adherence to South Dakota Division of Banking requirements, monitor internal compliance procedures, and advise management on regulatory matters. This role is ideal for a compliance professional seeking a flexible, ongoing engagement with a growing fiduciary institution.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and periodically update the company’s compliance program, policies, and procedures in accordance with South Dakota Banking Division requirements.
• Oversee implementation of compliance testing and internal control reviews.
• Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on implications for trust-company operations.
• Conduct training sessions on AML/BSA, fiduciary duties, and other compliance topics.
• Review client onboarding and account documentation for regulatory completeness.
• Serve as primary contact for examinations or audits by the South Dakota Division of Banking.
• Prepare periodic compliance reports for management and the Board.
Desired Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, accounting, or a related field.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in compliance, audit, or regulatory oversight within a trust company.
o Familiarity with South Dakota trust-company regulations and fiduciary compliance standards preferred.
• Skills & Traits:
o Strong attention to detail, independence, and professional judgment.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to balance risk management with practical business considerations.
o Comfortable working in a bilingual (English and Mandarin) environment a plus.
