This is a part-time internship for the Summer of 2022 – June to September.

The internship is in Sioux Falls, South Dakota or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our expectation is that this Internship will be a combination of in person and remote work.

Primary Duties:

The Marketing Intern’s duties will vary based on their specific assignment and anticipated business needs but will be within the responsibilities of one of the functions outlined below:

Research and identify best in class marketing and communication materials for our local and national competitors. Compare and contrast Sawmill’s existing marketing materials and communications vis-a vis our primary competitors and identify improvements.

Using the results of the market research project develop a detailed marketing and communication plan for Sawmill that can be implemented over the next 2 years. We anticipate that the project will include recommendations on printed and electronic materials, web presence, client reports, webinars, white papers, and other marketing and communication aspects of our business.

Assist in the development and implementation of an internal SharePoint site to provide quicker access to internal documents, foster communication among employees, and enhance our unique culture.

Evaluate Sawmill’s existing use of social media, e.g LinkedIn and other appropriate venues and advise on best practices to increase our visibility with our target clients and market.

Education/Course of Study:

Pursuing a bachelors or master’s degree in Marketing or a business-related discipline.

Prior related work experience a plus.

Other Requirements for Consideration:

  • Preferred GPA of 3.2 or greater
  • Interest in a career in Marketing, Communications and Wealth Management Motivation to succeed
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership potential Extra-curricular involvement
  • Approximately 15 to 20 hours per week from June to September 2022.
