In 2022, the South Dakota Trust Association implemented a new scholarship opportunity available to post-secondary students to help increase awareness of the local trust industry. It is the hope that this scholarship opportunity helps to raise awareness of students about the career paths in the trust industry, emphasizing the current demand for trust administrators. A total of three scholarships were awarded, one valued at $3,000 and the other two at $1,500.
Key requirements for the scholarship included: 1) attendance at the Fall Forum; 2) answering an essay question; and 3) submission of a brief video response. Even though it was the first time offering this scholarship, there were numerous applications submitted by students at several universities. We anticipate the number of applicants to increase each year. The scholarships will be awarded each fall for use during the upcoming spring semester.
